Osmo Pocket 2 DJI Teaser video & official launch released by DJI

The new DJI Osmo Pocket 2 is officially being released on October 20th according to both an email from DJI as well as their new Osmo Pocket 2 teaser video that dropped today!

Every time DJI releases a teaser video like this there are always a few ‘easter eggs’ hidden in the production that hint at new features, and we think we see something that teases enhanced face detection/enhancement around the 7 second mark.

The biggest, and most obvious, improvements in the new Osmo Pocket 2 are the design flaws in the original Osmo Pocket that MUST be corrected.

We’re talking about how ‘unsafe; the Osmo Pocket was sitting in the Wireless Module.  And if you put the Wireless Module in the Tripod Mount any little bump could send the Osmo Pocket flying.

Next issue with the original Osmo Pocket was the fact that the power supply and the microphone adapter were both using the USB-C connecter. This meant you couldn’t use an external microphone while the Osmo Pocket was charging or while it was in the Wireless Base.

Think about that last one! Ideally you would want to use the Wireless Base so you could control the Pocket with your smartphone to have easier to use (bigger) touch screen, PRO mode and composition.

DJI has fixed this by integrating wireless connectivity inside the new Osmo Pocket 2.

Despite these issues, the Osmo Pocket was widely adopted across many demographics from vloggers to soccer moms.  And we still see it used many places we go these days.  It’s a fantastic device.

And judging by the people using the Pocket 2 in the video it’s still aimed at the soccer moms, social media posters and other content creators.

Bottom line, we’re really looking forward to seeing the new improvements and adding the Osmo Pocket 2 to our gear bag!
