Osmo Mobile 4: Leaked Videos & Photos show new DJI OM 4 features

Like most gadgets, DJI product launches always have a flurry of leaks ahead of release and the new Osmo Mobile 4, or OM4, is no exception.

Earlier this morning we found a huge stash of photos as well as a promo video for the OM 4 that showcases what’s new. And the way your smartphone connects to the OM 4 is by far the biggest improvement in the handheld smartphone gimbal.

Previous versions of the Osmo Mobile used a spring loaded or hand tightened grip the secure your smartphone. And it was a bit of a fuss taking the phone out or putting it back in and making sure it was balanced.

Adhesive OM4 magnetic disc

The new OM 4 uses a magnetic disc that locks into place on the end of the OM 4 arm.  There are two types of magnetic disc, one has an adhesive patch(above, left) that sticks to your phone, the other (right) has a spring loaded grip so you can use it on multiple devices. The adhesive disc also has a flip out ring which acts has a phone holder when not in the OM 4.

OM 4 Features:

  • instant magnetic connection to arm
  • Hyperlaps
  • instant sharing
  • 3-axis stabilization
  • gesture control
  • Dynamiczoom (effect similar to Dolly Zoom)
  • Panorama
  • ActiveTrack 3.0
  • 15 hour battery life, charged bu USB-C
  • weighs 390 grams
  • bottom 1/4-20 tripod nut
  • removable tripod foot
  • price $130

DJI’s teaser video for the new OM 4 plays up the features from a ‘social sharing’ perspective, with the OM4 aimed at a millenial audience.

We’ve owned previous versions of the Osmo Mobile, and welcome the product evolution that has done away with painful clunky-ness of prior models.
