The much anticipated Mavic Mini ‘micro-drone’ might be one of DJI’s best sellling drones ever because of one simple fact: it weighs less than 250grams.

DJI Fly As You Are twitter announcement

Why this weight is so important points to the sudden need, thanks to worldwide adoption of new drone regulations, for a quality camera drone that isn’t subject to the greater restrictions placed on drones that weigh more.

Specifically the ability to fly over (or near) people, as well as in areas where flight by a heavier RPAS would be restricted.

Early leaks and drone rumors have indicated all sorts of specs regarding battery life, weight and even camera details, but until we have some real data that comes from a reliable source, everything you’ve read before today is pure conjecture.

Mavic Mini Specs ‘Wish List’

If we were designing the Mavic Mini, here are the key features we would want:

  • 15 minute battery life (mininum)
  • $300 max price point
  • wifi control with smartphone or optional remote control
  • quickshots
  • 4k30fps camera gimbal
  • 12MP stills

We know, it’s a pretty simple list, but the Mavic Mini drone is tiny and there’s only so much you can cram into such a small body.

Now that we’re less than a week away from the DJI Mavic Mini launch, be sure to subscribe to notifications because we’re in the ‘hot spot’ for when leaked images and specs typically start to appear.  And we want to be the first to know everything about the new Mavic Mini drone.

Are you planning to buy the Mavic Mini?  Let us know why, or why not, in the comments and we might use your comments in a future article!
