DJI Air 2S Firmware Update Adds DJI-RC, Remote ID, more
DJI released another firmware update for the popular Air 2S drone today that adds support for the popular DJI RC remote controller, as well as FAA Remote ID support for future requirement and Expo Curve settings in Cine mode.
| Overview
- Date: 2022-10-26

| What’s New?
With the rollout of the FAA’s Remote ID in the United States this update will add support for these requirements in the future. They only apply to drone operations within the US. Like the recent Mini 3 Pro firmware update, we expect that once update is complete the Remote ID function cannot be disabled and only versions of DJI Fly v1.7.8 or later will operate the aircraft
DJI’s new DJI-RC is an incredibly popular controller, built with the same form factor as DJI’s now-retired Smart Controller and the new DJI RC Pro, but with less weight. With a bright, built-in screen it speeds up aircraft connection and takes the glitchiness out of using a wired link to your smartphone.
DJI has also started to sell some models like the Air 2S and Mini 3 Pro as ‘drone only’ for those pilots who already have the DJI-RC. Very smart.
DJI has also added Expo Curve settings while in Cine mode. If you’re new to Expo Curve, it basically allows you to adjust the sensitivity to more smoothly control throttle up/down, rudder right/left, and forward/right or back/left. Adjusting this setting will soften or dampen the aircraft movement when the stick is pushed giving you buttery smooth cinematic movement.
