BREAKING: Mavic Mini Drone Firmware Update Enables MANUAL Exposure Control for Video!

Ever since the Mavic Mini was released last year, drone enthusiasts have been begging for one thing: manual exposure control when recording video.

Having proper manual video settings lets you capture truly cinematic video, at the highest quality settings, using Neutral Density filters.  Until now, we could only ‘exposure lock’ the Mavic Mini.

Today, DJI Support tweeted out news of a new firmware update that among other things, adds manual exposure for videos.

This is truly the best news ever for Mavic Mini owners!

Here’s what’s new in this firmware update:

  • Added manual exposure for videos (requires DJI Fly v1.0.8 or later).
  • Added 2.7K 24fps and 1080P 24/48fps resolution (requires DJI Fly v1.0.8 or later).
  • Added manual white balance adjustment (requires DJI Fly v1.0.8 or later).
  • Improved download speed for photos and videos.
  • Improved flight stability in some scenarios.
  • Added support to adjust operation frequency in Ukraine.
  • Optimized remote controller performance. Calibrate the remote controller if it is beeping after updating the firmware.

Now that you will have manual control over video exposure, it’s time to pick up some ND filters for your drone and learn how to use them!

We recommend the FREEWELL All Day 8-Pack of ND filters, and we own FREEWELL 8-Packs for all of our drones and action cameras.  It covers you up to ND64 for super bright days at the beach or over snow, and includes polarized ND filters as well. It’s available at B&H Photo and Adorama.  If you’d like a more basic 4-pack of ND filters to get started, check out FREEWELL’s Bright Day 4-Pack.
