What To Expect From DJI At Mobile World Congress 2018
Around this time last year rumors were flying about what new drone DJI was going to release at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
We reported what the possible new launches could be, based on leaked photos of the new drone.
Well it turns DJI’s release at MWC was none other than a Matrice 200 Series drone, which surprised everyone who was actively following the Spark story as well as a rumored second version of the Mavic.
Looking at the rumors we’re following today, we lean most heavily toward a Mavic Pro II to replace the 1st generation Mavic Pro. A second contender, but premature for release in our view, would be a Phantom 5.
Mobile World Congress is the largest mobile phone event, and companies connected to mobile technology (like DJI) are important participants.
As DJI’s product marketing experience evolves, we believe the company is also finding some events more in tune with their product cycle strategy. A perfect example of that is the National Association of Broadcasters event coming in April.
You may recall that the Spark drone was released at NAB and may have been one of the quickest selling drones in DJI’s history to that point.
Will DJI be quiet at MWC this year, saving their big announcements for NAB? Or will it be like past events: where we are handed a new product we didn’t even know was in the works? We checked the exhibitor list for MWC2018 and DJI doesn’t have a booth this year. That should tell us everything we need to know.

I would most like to see an Oslo handle that can wield an X7 camera, or at least an X5S.
