US Smart Controllers Sell Out in 12 Hours

Two weeks ago, DJI launched the all-new Smart Controller at CES2019.  Delays at the FCC due to the government shutdown, however, delayed release of the product in the US until yesterday morning.

At 7:00am yesterday we advised our readers that DJI had switched the Smart Controller status on the USA website to “Order Now”.  We shared the news immediately via our newsletter, site notifications and social media so that our readers wouldn’t miss out on the rush.

And when we checked back in at 7:00pm last night, DJI had updated the site with an “in-stock reminder” button that buyers could click to be notified when the item is back in stock.

None of this should come as a surprise to any of our regular readers, though. New products almost always have their inventory status adjusted during the first few days of sale, and DJI isn’t immune to selling out limited inventory builds.

With the success of yesterday’s USA launch, DJI will be very encouraged by the results. A product like the Smart Controller is a luxury add-on for many buyers, so the product development team at DJI will be thrilled to see such strong demand for this product.  And demand will continue to be strong due to fact the Smart Controller is designed for cold weather flying.

USA drone pilots who can’t wait for DJI to re-stock have limited choices where to buy.  We checked our list of drone suppliers and found the DJI Smart Controller is still on pre-order or ‘notify when in stock’ at retailers like B&H Photo and Adorama.

To be notified immediately when the Smart Controller is back in stock at DJI, simply sign up for our newsletter on the right hand menu.  And when you do get that notification from us, we recommend you act fast!

The DJI Smart Controller is one of the most popular products we’ve seen from DJI, and new stock will go quickly.

For those who are wanting to pair a Smart Controller with a new Mavic 2 Pro or Zoom, bundled Smart Controllers are still in stock and shipping immediately….you just have to buy a drone to get one.
