Now that the rumors about the Mavic Pro II and Phantom 5 are dying down, we bring your attention to a crazy incident that happened earlier this week involving a Russian billionaire and a Youtuber named Justin Oakes.
Oakes is a well-known Youtuber and drone videographer who was recently flying his drone while vacationing in the Caribbean. Most drone pilots have multiple levels of nerdy-ness, so when Justin spotted the super yacht of Russion oligarch Roman Abromovich he knew he had to go capture some epic video.
Oakes wasn’t expecting the yacht to have anti-drone technology and a private security force that raced into the water to chase down his DJI Phantom 4 Pro in speedboats.
In his video of the incident Oakes details the experience of a mystery man on board the yacht aiming a hand held cannon at his drone and neutralizing it’s transmission signal. Two men departed Eclipse in a speedboat and attempted to grab the drone out of the air while Oakes was desperately trying to regain control.
In the end, Justin didn’t just end up with really cool footage of the 2nd largest luxury yacht on Earth, he also got a really incredible story that he will never forget.
