Massive Dump of DJI Mavic 3 Specs and Photos

Just as Autel was about to launch a suite of new drones, the Quickstart Guide and specs for the upcoming Mavic 3 drone mysteriously leaks onto social media.

The Mavic 3 rumors have been building for months, but now it’s pretty much official that the replacement for DJI’s flagship drone will be released in November.

So what’s new in the Mavic 3 drone?. Simply put, almost everything.

New dual camera. New angled postioning of vision sensors. New Smart Controller.

Jasper Ellens, the new king of leaked drone images, has been busy sharing a massive amount of Mavic 3 images over the last 24 hours. We don’t know where he’s picking these up, but we really have to tip our hat to the great detective work he has done.

Ellens posted screen shots of the Mavic 3 Cine manual showing almost all of the Mavic 3’s specs, and claims the Mavic 3 will start at $1600 and be launched mid-November.

Aircraft

DJI has made intelligent changes to the body of the Mavic 3 that angles the vision sensors on the corners of the aircraft to capture a 360 view for superior obstacle avoidance. Weighing just under 920 grams the Mavic 3 is barely heavier than the Mavic 2.

In the image below, you can clearly see the angled front vision sensors and the dual-camera configuration of the 3-axis gimbal.

Battery

We knew DJI had to ramp up battery life in the refresh of the Mavic 2 to keep up with the Autel EVO II and its 40 minute flight time.

Well DJI has done that, and then some, by stretching flight time for the Mavic 3 up to 46 minutes, and now best in class.

The new battery configuration in a rear-entry setup, vs the former installed from the top of the drone. And the rear USB-C now allows for charging while the battery is in the aircraft, similar to the Mini and Mini 2 setup.

Cameras

This is where things get really interesting!

Mavic 3’s gimbal has two integrated cameras: a 1/2″ telephoto capable of 12MP stills and a 4/3″ wide-angle with a variable f/2.8-f/11 aperture capturing 20MP stills.

The field of view (FOV) of the telephoto camera is a tiny 15°, and the zoom function is 4x optical and 7x digital. We can’t wait to get our paws on this drone just to see the image capture.

It also appears that the wide-angle 4/3″ camera has both mechanical and electronic shutter.

Well-known leaker OsitaLV is also on the case, but appears to be falling behind Ellens. Earlier this morning OsitaLV shared a Chinese language version of the Mavic 3’s QuickStart Guide:

Mavic 3 Highlights:

  • dual-camera gimbal with separate telephoto and wide-angle cameras
  • 4x optical zoom + 7x digital zoom
  • variable f/2.8-f/11 aperture in wide-angle camera
  • angled vision sensors for 360 degree obstacle avoidance
  • 46 minute flight time
  • new Smart Controller V2 with increased 3 hour battery life
  • OcuSync 3.0
  • 15km image transmission
  • 5.2K video
  • DJI Fly App

With the upcoming release of the Mavic 3 as well at least two new models from Autel the next two months are going to be amazing for drone enthusiasts!
