LAUNCH: 4K Parrot ANAFI Is Latest Challenge To DJI Dominance

Three years before there was DJI, Parrot was one of the first and only recognizable names in recreational drones.

Since then, DJI has steamrolled ahead to control over 70% of the market while everyone else tries to play catch up.

Parrot’s latest attempt at reclaiming market share from DJI is the all new 4K ANAFI drone.

Weighing 320 grams (about 110g, or 1/4lb, less than the DJI Mavic Air) the Parrot ANAFI is barely heavier than the DJI Spark.

Like the DJI Mavic Air, the ANAFI writes 4K video to storage at 100 Mbps, providing a higher quality end video product than the Mavic Pro.

Like the Mavic Pro and Mavic Air, the ANAFI sports folding arms that tuck neatly against the slender ANAFI body making it perfectly compact for travel and convenience.

Key Facts:

  • 320 grams
  • 25 minute battery life
  • 1/2.4″ Sony CMOS sensor
  • 2.8x zoom
  • 4K HDR video
  • 21 MP photos
  • 2-axis mechanical + 1 axis digital stabilization

  • 1080p 24/25/30/48/50/60 fps
  • 4km range
  • 50 km/h wind resistance
  • 55 km/h to speed in Sport mode

One extremely unique feature of the Parrot ANAFI is the up and downward tilting gimbal that allows for 180 degrees of vertical orientation, the first drone of it’s kind to offer a vertical gimbal, lossless zoom and 4K HDR.

In the box:

  • 1 Parrot Anafi Drone with Smart Battery
  • 1 Parrot Skycontroller 3
  • 1 storage case
  • 1 micro SD card 16GB
  • 1 USB-A / USB-C cable
  • 8 additional propellers
  • 1 screwdriver

There are more features that continue to put check-marks beside the ANAFI for the prospective drone buyer.

The intelligent geo-fencing, return-to-home and find my drone help to keep you and your drone safe, while the built in features of the Parrot FREEFLIGHT app allow advanced features like the DJI family of drones.

Built-in Dolly Zoom effect, Hyperlaps and Slow-Motion video modes let you take your cinematic creativity to the next level.  And the intelligent tracking system in the ANAFI let’s you take full advantage of SmartDronie, Follow Me, Cameraman and other pre-programmed cinematic modes and effects.

The Parrot ANAFI is the first real challenger to both the Mavic Pro and Mavic Air to come along in 2018.

Priced at $699, the ANAFI $100 less than the basic DJI Mavic Air kit and $200 less than the Mavic Pro.

Pre-order of the Parrot ANAFI is live now, and shipping is estimated for late July 2018.

We haven’t flown the ANAFI (yet!) but we look forward to putting it through it’s paces.  It’s a well thought out aircraft that should help Parrot stay in the ring the DJI.
