DJI WIND-4 Heavy Payload Drone Clears FCC

Back in November DJI released the WIND 4 and WIND 8 commercial payload drones.

Designed to meet the needs of commercial operators, the Wind 4 is a heavy duty quadcopter capable of carrying up to 10kg of payload under conditions that would swamp most drones.

Powered by DJI’s fist sized E5000 rotor system, the WIND 4 is sure to play a big role in DJI’s new open-source ideology of allowing third party equipment makers to create custom tailored aerial solutions that marry with DJI’s flying platforms.

Further details of the FCC application are embargoed until June, but there aren’t really any secrects relating to the WIND 4, as info has already been released publicly.

Important to note that the WIND-4 incorporates a Software Development Kit for third party developers to maximize the versatility and deployment of this commercial quadcopter.

The WIND-4 is truly impressive with 28″ propellors operating from four E5000 motors.  The WIND 4 uses DJI’s A3 flight controller and Lightbridge 2 Transmission and Ground Station.  Also available are RTK and A3 Pro configurations.
