DJI RUMOR: DJI Releasing New FPV Remote Controller, DJI Goggles 2, and “Air Unit”

DJI drones are among the most sophisticated remote control vehicles produced today. And the company’s FPV goggles are currently on their second version.  First we had the original DJI Goggles, which also double as a viewer for watching movies on your tablet or as a gaming headset.

Next came the DJI Goggles Racing Edition with more power connections to the drone and faster electronics.

Today our “FCC Sniffer” caught wind of three new equipment applications by DJI for some very interesting gear.  It looks like DJI is taking FPV and dual remote operations very seriously as they work to sculpt the drone ecosystem going forward.

DJI FPV Remote Control is also on the list of FCC cleared products, but the label location image doesn’t show anything meaningful so we’ve spared you the bandwidth of loading a useless image.

The leaks on the new goggles started early this morning out of China, and they’re already being called DJI Goggles 2.

(We’ll see if the name sticks!)

They’re definitely smaller.  Definitely more powerful. And they may even be able to accomodate better lens correction fittings for users who wear prescription glasses.

What product(s) are the new DJI Goggles 2 designed for?

Are they going to be backward compatible with existing products such as the Mavic Air or Mavic 2 Pro, which use wifi and OccuSync 2.0 respectively? Or are these new DJI Goggles 2 being developed ahead of a new drone release specific for these FPV devices?

Put another way, is DJI finally releasing an FPV Racing Drone to accompany the new DJI Goggles 2?!

As always, time will tell. We’ll keep our eyes peeled with the usual sources.  If you have information to share on the upcoming DJI Goggles 2, let us know in the comments or reach out to us via our Contact page.
