DJI Releases AVATA FPV Drone And Goggles 2

As usual, the latest DJI drone release was a poorly kept secret, but that’s just how the product release cycle goes nowadays. Today we finally have the official release of DJI’s newest FPV drone, the Avata.

Avata is basically a “cinewhoop” style compact drone that blends the best features of a pro-sumer camera drone with the nimbleness of an FPV racer.

The end result is a hard-core flying action camera for capturing extreme footage. And it does not disappoint.

48 MP Camera

The Avata’s camera is a 1/1.7 inch CMOS sensor shooting still photos with 48MP at f/2.8. Video is captured at 4K60 or 2.7K50/60/100/120. The best part? Avata comes with a whopping 20GB of internal storage (like we haven’t been waiting for internal storage in drones to be increased for years!).

DJI Avata Pro-View Combo (USD$1388) bundles the drone with the new DJI Goggles 2 adn the DJI Motion Controller to provide an immersive sensory experience with intuitive control by hand and head movements.

Weighing just 410 grams, the Avata FPV drone can fly for up to 18 minutes. Image transmission is 1080p/100fps with estremely low 30ms latency.

3 Bundles

The DJI Avata Fly Smart Combo (USD$1168) includes the Avata drone, DJI FPV Goggles and DJI Motion Controller giving drone pilots a more cost effective entry to the immersive flight experience.

For drone pilots who already have the DJI Motion Controller, FPV REmote Controller 2 and/or DJI FPV Goggles you can purchase the Avata drone only for just USD$629.

Bundle add-ons for the Avata include a Fly More Kit, which has become an expected option for all DJI drones that includes 2 additional batteriess and a charging hub.

Avata ND Filters(USD$65) and DJI Goggles Backpack(USD$99) are also available at the DJI Store.

DJI Care Refresh for Avata is $79 for the one year plan. Replacements in the first year are $29 for the first incident and $39 the second. Flyaway Coverage replacement is $219.

Although the DJI Avata FPV drone is well armoured with robust propeller guards we highly recommend you purchase DJI Care Refresh at check-out so it’s automatically bound to the drone from day 1.

DJI Fly App

DJI Avata operates across 3 modes: Normal(N), Manual(M) and Sport(S). Manual is only available with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 and opens up the experience for expanded flight and camera control. Operating in Normal mode, users will enjoy an experience similar to traditional camera drones: hovering in place using GPS and/or the VPS system on the bottom of the drone. Sport mode blends the dynamic movement of Manual mode with key safety features of Normal mode giving pilots more room to expand their skills safely as they become more familiar with the drone.

Avata comes loaded with D-Cinelike color mode for video, a 155 degree super-wide field of view as well as HorizonSteady and RockSteady 2.0 literly making it a flying DJI Action 2.

DJI Avata is available immediately at the DJI Storee, B&H Photo and Adorama.

Quantity limits may apply.
