DJI Postpones “See The Bigger Picture” Drone Launch Event
If you haven’t already heard, DJI announced today that they were postponing the much anticipated launch event schedule for July 18th in New York City.
Drone fans everywhere have been speculating that an updated Mavic Pro, called the Mavic Pro 2, or a new series of Phantom fixed-wing drones, was headed our way.
DJI informed invitees by email today that the event is being pushed back, however no specific reason for the delay is mentioned:
“Today we are making the difficult decision to push back the event. DJI is committed to introducing the most high-quality, cutting-edge technology in the market. We will postpone ‘See the Bigger Picture’ so we can deliver according to our standard of innovation. User experience is our top priority, and we wanted to ensure we can exceed our customers’ expectations for our technology by the time of the event. Please stay tuned for more information. Thank you for your continued interest and support.”
When the Mavic Pro was released in November of 2016 it encountered weeks, and then months, of delays getting it out the door.
Cancelling a huge launch event such as this less than two weeks before the date is a brave move for any company. But DJI obviously wants to get this product launched properly.
A new date for the launch event hasn’t been determined yet, and DJI will announce updated plans when they become available.
