DJI & Hasselblad’s 100 Megapixel Dream Comes True

At the beginning of the April we told you about a leaked photo showing a DJI drone kitted out with a Hasselblad camera.
All we had to go on was the leaked prototype photo….until now.
Yesterday DJI made it official by unveiling a DJI M600 Pro drone loaded up with a Ronin-MX gimbal armed with a Hasselblad H6D-100C camera.
This takes ultra high definition aerial photography to a whole new level, literally.
The $5000 M600 Pro, part of the Matrice series, is a completely integrated, ultra convenient aerial imaging platform. An upgrade from the original M600, the M600 Pro has improve flight performance and better payload capacity. Pre-installed folding arms and antennas reduce setup time and the M600 Pro‘s modular design makes it easy to mount additional options and payloads.
The airframe includes the A3 Pro flight controller and Lightbridge 2 HD transmission system, Intelligent Batteries and management system.
The M600 Pro is natively compatible with all Zenmus cameras and gimbals, and it’s full intergration with thrid party software and hardware make the M600 Pro ideal for professional aerial photography and industrial applications.
But enough about the drone. You want to know about the 100 megapixel Hasselblad attached to the Ronin-MX.
The Hasselblad H6D-100C is at the upper, upper reaches of ultra high quality, super-professional models. Like we’re talking UPPER: the H6D-100C sells for $32,995
What makes this camera so special, beyond the 100 megapixel sensor? Just about everything.
On the Still image side of things it can shoot 100MP stills continuously at 1.5 fps, and in Video mode shoots both 4K UHD and Full HD video at 30 fps in RAW format.
Add to that the 64-12800 ISO range, 16-bit color depth and a dynamic range of up to 15 stops to maintain notable detail and quality when working in the most difficult of lighting conditions.
Just don’t drop it.
The H6D also features a USB 3.0 Type-c connector for fast 5 Gbps transfer speeds and more fluid tethered shooting performance. The rear of the camera features a bright, crisp 3″ 920k-dot touchscreen LCD monitor. Dual memory card slots on board, one CFast and one SD allow stills and video to be saved in-camera. However captures can also be stored remotely when tethered via USB 3.0.
Oh, and the H6D has it’s own built in wi-fi so it can be used with iOS devices running the Phocus Mobile app, giving wireless remote control of the camera as well as the ability to preview imagery and browse files.
So if you’re keeping track, so far this hard-core aerial imaging platform is almost $38,000. But we’re not done yet.
To incorporate the Hasselblad H6D camera into the M600 Pro we’re going to need a Ronin-MX, DJI’s professional 3-axis stabilization system.
The least expensive part of the setup, coming in at $1,599, the Ronin-MX has auto-tuning balancing features, 5-minute set-up and is designed for stability in high G-Force environments. It’s like a smart, powerful nest for the Hasselblad H6D allowing professional operators to capture stunning images and footage like never before.
And now we’re at $39,593….but let’s just call it $40,000. To put that in perspective, for the price of this ultra-pro setup you could buy 30 DJI Mavic Pro ‘Fly More Combos’ for the price of this single solution. Wow.
While this superior ultra-high quality professional rig has a narrow range of users, we can’t wait to see the results that come out of this set-up. Release is scheduled for Q3 2017.
