BREAKING: DJI MAVIC MINI Approved by FCC – Release Imminent
DJI’s newest drone, the Mavic Mini has received FCC approval and will likely be available for purchase within weeks.
Since we first reported on the drone rumors surrounding the Mavic Mini last month, we’ve been speculating that this will be DJI’s first drone to intentionally fit in the ‘sub 250 gram’ category.
Regulatory authorities across the globe have been tightening drone laws and most are exempting drones that weigh less than 250 grams from licensing, airspace rules, flying over people and other restrictions. Drone pilots who want to fly where their primary drone would not be allowed, or who don’t intend to obtain advanced pilot licensing, will welcome the Mavic Mini as a quick, portable solution for catching aerial photos and video with ease.
The Mavic Mini will also be released with a dedicated controller (C2), however we’re not sure if the C2 unit will be included in the Mavic Mini base kit or available for purchase as an accessory. While we expect the tiny new Mavic Mini will use a wifi connection, it’s possible that it could be a ‘true Mavic’ and retain Occusync.
Details on camera, battery life, range etc. are still being determined.

If the Mavic Mini is really below 250 grams, do you intend to purchase one? Let us know in the comments.
I can tell you for a fact, this is a drone that we will definitely add to the kit specifically to grab those shots that we can’t use a larger drone for.
Stay tuned!
