BREAKING: DJI About To Release Mirrorless Camera to Take On Sony Alpha!

The DJI rumor mill is working overtime right now with products being released imminently like the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3 and the just released FPV Digital System.

Today we received word that DJI is developing it’s own Mirrorless camera to take on market leader Sony.

The details are very light (for now) but here’s what we know:

DJI made application for it’s patent(s) on the new DJI mirrorless camera on July 26, 2019.  We can’t comment on how this impacts a release date, but it certainly makes it official.

Borrowing from their ownership of Hasselblad, and the recently released Hasselblad X1D II 50C, pundits expect DJI will make a more affordable, mainstream camera that will be popular with vloggers and Youtubers. But looking at the photos and 3D renderings in the various Chinese filings, the new DJI mirrorless camera looks identical to an X1D. Judge for yourself:

If DJI is serious about cutting into Sony’s mirrorless market share then there are a few features that are MUST HAVES for vloggers and content creators.

First off is a tilt out LCD screen that also doesn’t interfere with a microphone.  Judging by the back of the rumored DJI mirrorless camera, the LCD does appear to have a tilt out function, but it’s not clear whether it is to the side or above the hotshoe.

Did you notice the ‘joystick’ style button to the right of the viewfinder?  That’s an interesting development.

Still early days trying to figure out exactly what DJI is gong to do in the Mirrorless camera space, be sure to sign up for our newsletter or give the OK for notifications to be the first to know when DJI releases an all new mirrorless camera.
