New PHOTOS of Rumored DJI Phantom 5!!

A new set of photos showing the metallic skinned DJI Phantom 5 made it to Twitter this morning.

It looks like this is truly the new Phantom 5 because the gimbal housing has what appears to be the new interchangeable lens system, very similar to the new Zenmuse X7 system that was recently released for the Inspire 2 drone.

Previous descriptions of the Phantom 5 have mentioned an aluminum body, which would appear to be count-intuitive given the internal navigation sensors, etc. that be impaired by a metallic skin.

Instead we think the new Phantom body is the same plastic as previous Phantom models, it’s just made to look metallic.

The image below shows the new Phantom 5 with it’s matching controller and a DJI CrystalSky monitor.  Placed alongside the Phantom is a DJI Mavic Pro.

The new Phantom 5 will have 4 interchangeable lenses in 15mm, 24mm, 35mm and 50mm in front of a 1″ CMOS sensor.

Battery life is also rumoured to have been extended beyond 30 minutes.

In the lead up to new product launches there always seems to be be fresh leaks of new features so we’ll keep you posted on everything we hear.

As we approach potential future launch dates for a Phantom 5 or a Mavic Pro II, like at NAB2018, keep an eye on the channel of your favorite Youtuber.  Drone users like Casey Neistat and iJustine had some suspicious activity on their channels in the days leading up to the launch of the new Mavic Air folding 4K drone.  It turns out they got the new drone in advance and were able to do some filiming to help build the buzz in sync with the drone release.

It would not be at all surprising to see this with a Phantom 5….especially on Neistat’s channel.
