VIDEO: We Unbox The Osmo Pocket Controller Wheel and Accessory Mount!
We’ve had the Osmo Pocket since mid-November 2018, and we’ve been patiently waiting for the accessories to arive…until last week.
A few days ago DJI finally sent us the Controller Wheel and the Accessory Mount and it has totally changed the way we use the Osmo Pocket!
From the start we knew the Accessory Mount would probably be our favorite accessory. Because it let’s the Osmo Pocket take advantage of all the GoPro mounts and attachments we have in drawers and boxes, it opens up everything from tripod mounting to windshield attachments.
Until the Wireless Module arrives (tomorrow!) it will be one of our top accessories for the Osmo Pocket.
We also received the Controller Wheel, which is a pretty neat little gizmo, but we don’t expect to get as much use from it.
As we mentioned above, the Accessory Mount is self-explanatory. It instantly unlocks the portability, connectivity and “hands-free-ity” of the Osmo Pocket. ‘Nuff said.
The Controller Wheel on the other hand is a specific-use gizmo that empowers the Osmo Pocket more than anything.
It’s difficult to write about ‘pans left’ or ‘this switch does that’ so watch our YouTube video below for a more complete explanation of the features.
What we will say about the Osmo Pocket Controller Wheel is that we didn’t originally think it was a very useful thing when we saw it listed at launch. But now that we’ve been using it for a week, I find it very useful especially when walking in urban settings filming with the Osmo Pocket.
The pan and tilt is butter smooth, and your alternative is to turn your body or raise and lower your arms to achieve the same effects.
Our bottom line review for both accessories is a total thumbs up. Two thumbs for the Accessory Mount. 5 Stars.
We’ll add more details in a couple of days when the much anticipated Wireless Module arrives, because it will totally free us and the Osmo Pocket from the tethered experience of the connected smarthphone MIMO App.
With the WIreless Module we can use the Osmo Pocket and still take advantage of the PRO features built into the MIMO app…without connecting our smartphone. Using wifi or bluetooth we’ll be able to control the Osmo Pocket remotely, opening up yet another new creator experience.
The Wireless Module isn’t doesn’t arrive until tomorrow and we already know we’re going to love it!
