New Mavic Platinum Propellers Available In 2 Colors: Golden or Platinum

“Everyone has heard about the new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum drone.  With 11% longer battery life (sorry, that sounds much better than saying “3 minutes”) and 60% quieter propellers existing Mavic Pro owners have lots of questions.

First off, the noise reduction and extended battery life in the new Mavic Pro Platinum is the result of two things: new propellers and advanced ESC in the propeller motors.   ESC stands for ‘Electronic Speed Control’ and its basically hardware and/or software intelligence built into the drone that does a better job of managing power use by the propeller motors.

So the big question we’re hearing both in the forums and directly to our inbox is “Will the new propellers work on the original Mavic Pro?”

And the short answer to that is a resounding “Yes!”

But the longer answer is “Yes! But the will have only a minor impact on noise and almost no impact on battery life.”  Or as DJI says, “Noise reduction and flight time are also enhanced when used with the Mavic Pro, but not as much.”

We haven’t seen “official” side by side decibel measurements comparing a Mavic Pro with regular props to a Mavic Pro with the Platinum props so there’s no empirical evidence of just how minor the sound improvement is with the new props.

And while the new Platinum Pro propellers aren’t in stock on the DJI website yet, did you know that they are being offered in two colors?

Once in stock, you’ll be able to purchase the Mavic Low-Noise Quick-Release Propellers in either Golden or Platinum.

The new propellers retail for $10, versus $9 for the original Mavic Pro Quick-Release Propellers.
