Is DJI “Going Small” With Latest Trademark Application?

We’ve seen it with all of DJI’s drones: the come in every shape and size from the workhorse Matrice series all the way down to the tiny Tello.

Until the recently launched Ronin-S came along, the Osmo and Osmo+ were pretty much all DJI had in the handheld gimbal category.

DJI recently received a new trademark for ‘POCA’ with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Our editors love it when these nuggets of new information come along, becuase it gives us a chance to play sleuth with what is happening at DJI.

We’re guessing that POCA could refer to one of two concepts.  First, if you’re familiar with the Spanish language, you know that ‘poca’ can translate as ‘little’.

Because the trademark is registered by DJI Osmo Technology, the same DJI shell that gave us the Ronin and Osmo Mobile 2 devices, we’re going to give credibility to it being a scaled down version of the existing Osmo handheld gimble.

Our second guess is that POCA is a short form for what the new device is.  We don’t have any guesses yet on what the P.O.C.A could stand for, but we’ll work on it.

And speaking of the Osmo Mobile 2, don’t forget that we’re just a bit over halfway through our June contest….if you use one of our links to buy a drone at store.dji.com in June 2018, you will be automatically entered for a chance to win a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 smartphone gimbal.
