Gatwick: Police Admit “There May Not Have Been Drones in First Place”
The Sun is reporting today that UK police involved with the investigation of drones around Gatwick Airport are doing some serious back-pedalling.
Earlier this week UK police arrested Paul Gait and Elaine Kirk, and held them over 36 hours without arrest…parading them in front of the media.
Police appeared more eager to release photos and details of the couple, than fact checking, as the suspect’s employer told police that the man being held could not be involved because he was at work when the incident occured.
To make matters worse, and reveal the sloppy nature of the UK police work, Gait’s employer told the Sun that police never returned his call.
Stranger still is how professional media photogs, with extensive training and the finest camera gear completely failed to produce any images or video of drones at Gatwick.
Members of the UK press who participated in the rushed smearing of Gait and Kirk, owe a public apology to the couple for how they were treated. And UK police need to that destroying innocent lives before you have checked all of the facts is beyond reproach.
The media and police were very successful, however, at stirring up a hornet’s nest of negative public opinion towards responsible operators who participate in the aerial photography hobby.
