DJI Mini 3 Pro is the ultimate drone for creators
DJI’s latest micro drone, the new Mini 3 Pro, is a serious upgrade from the Mini 2. In fact it’s so good you might consider ditching your larger Air or Mavic series drone. Seriously.
Let’s take a look at the new and upgraded features in the new Mini 3 Pro and you’ll quickly see why.
Largest sensor
Compared to the Mini 2 and the Mavic Air 2, the new Mini 3 Pro has the largest sensor at 1/1.3″. In fact it’s almost 2x the size of the original Mavic Air 2 sensor. The larger sensor yields more Megapixels too. 48 of them so your photo resolution will be clear and sharp.
True Vertical Shooting
The beefy Mini 3 Pro sensor actually rotates to capture true vertical images and video. Can you say “TikTok”? Because that’s likely part of the inspiration behind a camera that rotates to shoot in Portrait mode.
Autel’s EVO Nano and Nano+ drones use software cropping to obtain a portrait style image.
4K 60fps Video
Part of the reason the Mini 2 became so popular with creators is because it captured 4K at 30fps. A major feat for a micro drone. But without the 60fps option creators couldn’t slow down their video in post without messing up framerate syncronicity in post production. But now with 4K at 60fps, Mini 2 Pro means you can shoot buttery smooth dramatic video to make your content stand out.
Two Battery Options
All DJI drones come with an Intelligent Flight Battery, and it’s standard for the Mini 3 Pro. With 34 minutes of flight time, the basic battery is likley going to satisfy most users.
But when you need longer flight time you can step up to the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus and fly for up to 47 minutes. That’s longer than the Mavic 3, Mavic 2 Series and Air 2S drones.
It’s important to note that the new Intelligent Flight Battery Plus will put the takeoff weight of a Mini 3 Pro above 250 grams, making it subject to licensing and regulations in some jurisdictions.
3-Way Obstacle Avoidance
Back when the original Mavic Mini was released it was so much fun to fly that we basically ignored our Mavic 2 Pro for a while. And until we got used to flying without obstacle avoidance there were almost a few crashes too.
Earlier this year AUTEL released it’s Nano Series of sub-250 gram drones, both sporting obstacle avoidance sensors, and threatening DJI’s dominance. So it comes as no surprise that DJI would pull out all of the stops when it came to putting the most advanced features possible in the Mini 3 Pro.
With forward, rear and downward sensors, Mini 3 Pro uses APAS 4.0 and advanced algorithms to see it’s way safely in the world.
Buy This Drone
The bottom line for us is how many improved and high quality features DJI has packed into this little wonder.
We just got back from Miami where we were test flying the new Autel EVO Lite+ drone, and I have to say it’s a good thing that our Mini 3 Pro hasn’t arrived yet because we would be short-shifting the EVO Lite+ early!
Mini 3 Pro checks all of the boxes for us with features we’ve become used to in bigger, more sophisticated drones.
Should you buy the Mini 3 Pro? Our opinion is you’d be crazy not to.
