BREAKING NEWS: Two Clues That A New Osmo Is Coming

Earlier today we got notice from Adorama that they’ve lowered the price on the DJI Osmo handheld, gimbal mounted 4K camera system.  Normally $399, it’s been given an Instant Rebate that drops the price to $265, a 34% savings.

Not to be confused with the Osmo Mobile 2, which is a smartphone gimbal, the Osmo is a self contained unit that accepts interchangeable camera armitures from the Inpire series of drones.

As we’ve told you many times in the past, a price drop is one of the first indicators that a product refresh is underway.  And the fact that this sale is before Black Friday, means the refresh could be happening sooner than we thought.

The second clue is the FCC Application that was processed today for an all-new device called Osmo Pocket Wireless Module.

With nothing more than the name to go on, we have to surmise that the newest Osmo will obviously have a wireless component that allows for control of the camera and gimbal.

It could also be related to earlier leaked photos of the Mavic 2 drones, which had other pieces of hardware in the frame.  Twitter muse OsitaLV even went so far as to render some drawings the look like a GoPro sized body to accept a Mavic 2 gimbal.

There’s a good chance we could see additional FCC releases in the coming days, and perhaps even an announcement during Black Friday and Christmas Season…after all, the Mavic Pro was released in Fall 2016.
