It’s here folks, just as we predicted in our YouTube video last week! The all new DJI Smart Controller for the Mavic 2 Series of drones was launched today. But DJI also brags that because it uses OccuSync 2.0 it will work with any similarly enabled aircraft. And DJI clearly indicates that it is also compatible with the new Mavic 2 Enterprise drone.
Looking ahead to the next refresh of the Phantom Series of drones, there’s a good chance it will also use this controller!
Employing the 5.5″ CrystalSky Monitor, DJI has created a Smart Controller that also includes a brand new DJI App called DJI Go Share.
The Smart Controller is going to be compatible with any aircraft using OccuSync 2.0, which currently means just the Mavic 2 Series of drones. By using OccuSync 2.0 the controller will also share the long-range disctance quality of the existing controllers….meaning range up to 8km under ideal conditions.
The Smart Controller has ‘smart ports’ too. Users will be able to connect to the Smart Controller using an HDMI port (that supports 4K video output), microSD card slot, a USB type-C port, and a USB-A port. Through these ports, you can output video, insert a microSD card, charge the controller, and more.
The DJI Smart Controller works in extreme temperature ranges, which is going to be attractive to a lot of film makers at this time of year. Not only does the Smart Controller connect instantly to your aircraft, reducing battery loss, it works from -20C all the way up to +40C.
DJI Go Share lets you wirelessly transfer your photos and videos that are cached on the Smart Controller to you phone, letting you share the moment on all of your social networks right away.
The DJI Smart Controller also has an enhanced speaker and microphone built right in, and when combined with the all-new DJI Sky Talk feature lets you broadcast live video and images with audio over social platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
Power to the new DJI Mavic 2 controller is supplied by a 5000mAh battery that specs out at 2.5hrs of use.
The DJI Smart Controller is available immediately when ordered with a Mavic 2 drone, or you can sign up here to be notified when the device will ship on it’s own.
Will you upgrade to the new DJI Smart Controller ?? Let us know in the comments!
