Renowned filter maker Polar Pro has taken one step deeper into the DJI Mavic Pro accessory space. But it’s not a new filter set.
Instead Polar Pro has developed a simple, inexpensive platform that holds a folded Mavic Pro so you can use it like a two-fisted camera stabilizer.
DJI already makes a professional, dual-grip camera stabilizer called the Ronin (above). It’s industrial grade, used for TV and Movies, and it comes with a $1600 price tag. Not likely what you had in mind for shooting at the playground or the beach.
But with what the Polar Pro Katana brings to the Mavic gives you almost the same results. Taking advantage of the Mavic Pro’s 4k camera with it’s 3-axis gimbal, the Katana allows film-makers to explore video capture that is comparable to professional rigs.

Polar Pro tells us that the Katana was developed for one simple reason, to harness the power of your Mavic’s camera and gimbal, while shooting on the ground.
Katana enables you to capture precise hand held shots in tight, or difficult to fly spaces. PolarPro’s new mobile phone mount is also included allowing you to see exactly what you are filming as you shoot. The monitor mount ensures that your shots are framed up perfectly.
It also allows you to use your Mavic in no-fly zones such as national parks, or crowds. While you may not be able to fly, you can still capture the moment professionally. From action sport follow-cams, to small video productions the creative possibilities Katana enables are only limited by your imagination.

The Polar Pro Katana isn’t exactly available….yet. They are currently taking pre-orders on their website, with first shipments expected on May 1st.
Based on the simplicity of the Katana rig, we expect there to be many copy-cats. But if you wan’t to shoot ground based, up-close video taking advantage of all of the Mavic Pro’s camera features, we think that the Katana will be another ‘must have’ Mavic accessory.
