After months of teasing about DJI Goggles we finally have the real goods !
Released today for limited pre-sale on DJI’s website, the FPV DJI Goggles are priced at $449 USD.
DJI describes the Goggles as Immersive FPV with a pair of 1920×1080 HD screens. It also has a head tracking feature, enabling you to look at the world from above. So one person could pilot the drone, while a second person wearing the goggles could enjoy and control the perspective of the 85 degree field of view per eye.
Head tracking allows the wearer to control both aircraft yaw and camera tilt in ‘Head Tracking Flight mode’ as with remote controller sticks.
All you need to do is turn your head left or right to yaw left or right, and straighten your head to stop turning. In ‘Head Tracking Gimbal mode’, only the gimbal will move without affecting yaw.
DJI Goggles are able to offer both 720p/60fps and close range 1080p/30fps viewing with an extremely low latency of just 110ms. Through DJI’s OcuSync wireless transmission system, up to four devices can be connected to the Mavic Pro simultaneously. Antennas built into the headband ensure 360 degrees of coverage, offering a reliable connection ieven if the aircraft is flying behind you.
Battery life for the DJI Goggles is up to a maximum of six hours.
An on-board SD card allows you to download files to the Goggles either as a backup or to view your footage.
