Beta Testers Supply Latest DJI Mavic Pro II Rumors
When it comes to DJI drone rumors, the Mavic Pro II (2) seems to be almost off the chart lately. As much as DRN likes to be at the leading edge of what is coming next in the drone world (which pretty much means whatever DJI has in the works), we know that some of what is being reported about the possible Mavic Pro II (2) is just being done by a website or two trying to juice their Google rank and affiliate sales.
So that’s why we look at each leak, rumor and update with a critical eye to consider whether this is just more noisy trash for our readers or something of actual value.
The latest update on a potential Mavic Pro II (2) contemplates a new Sony IMX226 camera with a 1/1.7″ sensor.
Previous speculation on the Mavic Pro II (2) camera sensor has suggested everything from interchangeable lenses (like the Zenmuse X7 & the rumored Phantom 5) to a fixed 1″ sensor more in line with the Phantom 4 series of DJI drones.
While it’s easy to speculate on what specs the next generation Mavic Pro will have, the reality is that other DJI products are due to be released first.
Last week we shared the news that the DJI Phantom 4 V2.0 is literally about to fall out the door at DJI. The Phantom 4 V2.0 received FCC approval in mid March. NAB2018 in Las Vegas is just a couple of days away, which would be perfect timing for a Spring release of the Phantom 4 V2.0.
With the sudden proliferation of websites with questionable information on upcoming DJI products, it’s time to step back and look at each of these updates more closely. Even “the Prophet” OsitaLV has admitted to playing games and just imagining some of his new product tweets.
When it comes to Mavic Pro II (2) rumors, we think you really, really need to take them with a HUGE grain of salt. With our pipeline of user information and our FCC sniffer, we can tell you that DJI has a lot of product in the queue ahead of any “rumored” DJI Mavic Pro II (2). Seriously.
The only new DJI drone you’re going to find that is even remotely close to a Mavic Pro II (2) is the just-released Mavic Air. Better in every aspect compared to the Mavic Pro, except for 6 minutes less flight time. Better 4K in the Mavic Air, more modern electronics, more modern brain. And we think that will lead to superior firmware upgrades going forward. The DJI Mavic Pro is aleady a dinosaur. But our first hand experience with the Mavic Air blows the Mavic Pro out of the water.
Wait all you want for the Mavic Pro II (2). If you want to be out there flying and capturing the epic moments around you, in 4K, DJI has already built that drone. Mavic Air or Phantom 4 Pro. Seriously. It’s your choice.

Mavic Pro has much longer range, huge advantage.
